Brahmin Sambar
Serves: 4 – 5 people
Recipe Instructions:
- Soak and pressure cook toor dal (1 cup) with salt and ½ tsp turmeric until soft.
- Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan and add black mustard seeds (1 tsp). Wait until it splutters and add curry leaves (10) and red chilli (2). Mix them well.
- Add tamarind paste (1 tbsp), Sarva Sambar Podi (2 tbsp), the boiled Dal and 2 cups vegetables (onions, tomatoes, drumstick and carrot) to it.
- Adjust the consistency by adding more water if required. Add salt to taste.
- Mix and boil well.
- Your authentic Sambar is now ready!
- Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with hot idli, dosa or rice.
